Hymns

Hymns are a good source for praying. You can either sing them or read them, out loud is recommended. You can use your hymn book or go to http://hymnary.org to search many hymnals or visit

https://hymnary.org/hymnal/EH1982 to search just the current Episcopal hymn book.

Book of Common Prayer

  • Praying the Psalms – begins on page 585. The Psalms are also arranged for reading through in 30 days by following labels, such as Psalm 1 being First Day: Morning Prayer. There will be a label for morning and evening every day for 30 days. Also, the * at the end of a line is designed to indicate a pause before continuing.
  • The Prayers and Thanksgivings are arranged in logical categories and indexed on page 810-813. There are 70 prayers plus 11 Thanksgivings. In addition, Prayers for the Sick are on pages 458-461. Prayers for the Dying are on pages 462-465. Prayers for the Dead are on pages 202, 253, 487, and 503.
  • Morning Prayer Rite 1 begins on page 37, Rite 2 on page 75.
  • Evening Prayer Rite 1 begins on page 61, Rite 2 on page 115.
